Add-Ins not showing up in Excel 2016

description

I am unable to get the Add-Ins ribbon to show up to run DAXStudio within Excel 2016 64 bit:

When running the DAX Studio Checker I get this:

We still have note been able to replicate this issue. Can you check in Excel File -> Options -> Addins that DAX Studio is not listed in the Disabled Addins?

Otherwise I've just released an update to DAX Studio Checker here https://daxstudio.codeplex.com/releases/view/631424 that includes some more diagnostics specifically around the Excel add-in. So you could try running that and seeing posting the updated results back here.

What Anti-Virus software are you running? I've seen some mentions that AV software can sometimes block some Office Addins.

Hello - Here is what shows up. It looks like Excel Add-in passes the check but I can't get the "Add-Ins" to show up on the ribbon. Even if I disable that tab and re-enable. Could it be the AMO and ADOMD.net fail throws it?

Any other thoughts on this? We are using McAffee at my company and other's are able to use DAX Studio, so it's not the AV issue as mentioned. I would love to be able to use this tool.

dgosbell wrote Jul 11 at 1:21 AM

Unfortunately we have not been able to reproduce this issue or capture any errors when this problem occurs. In the next release we are adding crash reporting and moving the initialization of the logging system to the earliest point we can in the application lifecycle to hopefully try and help isolate the cause of this issue.

dgosbell wrote Jul 23 at 10:54 AM

We still don't know what's causing this issue, but the beta of version 2.7 is available on my OneDrive here https://1drv.ms/f/s!AnSKp2UbblSYgZlNWkrpq3eInReMNg It has a crash reporting component and if you hold down the left SHIFT key while starting Excel it should enable debug logging (more details can be found in the release notes in the OneDrive link

I just sent a copy of my error log over to you.

I was able to get further, the add-in loads now, but I can't connect to the Power Pivot model in Excel.

It says the connection either timed out or is lost.

Thank you again for your help.

Paul

As discussed offline, it looks like this issue will be fixed in the 2.7 release

Looking forward to the update. The current add-in keeps getting disabled and requires a manual reload.
