What sort of data source are you connected to? (PowerPivot, Power BI, Tabular Server)

When you have the Server Timings enabled - after the query finishes and returns results we wait 5 seconds for the QueryEnd event to arrive before throwing that timeout error. Usually it appears to take only half a second or so for the QueryEnd event to arrive after the query completes. Is this happening for all queries or only some of them? Is this a busy server or are there only a few users?

Are you able to run SQL Profiler against the same server and see if the Query End even arrives, but takes more than 5 seconds?

In v2.4.1 I've made this timeout configurable in the File - Options page, so if your issue was caused be a very large query or a busy server you should now be able to extend the timeout. I'd be interested to hear if this helps.
