DAX Studio runs when logged in as admin, but won't if I'm not

Feb 2, 2016 at 6:56 PM
I've been trying to get DAX studio running on some users' machines however it only works if I'm logged in as an admin. If the user logs in again they can't launch DAX studio. Is Admin required to run the program? Or register components?

What version of Dax Studio are you running? We had a similar issue logged recently and it turned out to be a slightly different behaviour in one of the .Net registry APIs when running as a non-admin (even though we are just saving user settings in HKEY_CURRENT_USER) This issue was introduced when we added the options window in the 2.3.0 release, but it should be fixed in version 2.3.5 (this has been available for a few weeks, but I only just marked it as the default release)

Apparently 2.3.4; I'll give 2.3.5 a try. Thanks for the response.

2.3.6 is working now on users that do not have local admin; thanks for the response.
